Renewable Energy & Sustainability Project
The Renewable Energy & Sustainability Project is a strategic initiative to promote the use of clean energy in Basse while reducing the municipality’s dependence on fossil fuels. The project will focus on solar electrification of public facilities, including municipal offices, health centers, and schools. By installing solar panels, BAC aims to lower operational costs and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in critical sectors. In addition, solar-powered water pumps will be deployed to improve irrigation for farmers, boosting agricultural productivity.
To encourage wider adoption of renewable energy, BAC will conduct public workshops on the benefits of solar power and provide subsidized solar kits to small businesses. The project also includes the establishment of a pilot waste-to-energy initiative, which will convert organic waste into biogas for cooking and electricity generation. This effort will be complemented by a plastic recycling program that not only reduces pollution but also creates jobs in waste management.
Expected Impact:
- Lower Energy Costs: Reduced reliance on diesel generators and the national grid.
- Environmental Protection: Less pollution through renewable energy adoption and waste recycling.
- Economic Growth: Job creation in solar energy installation and waste management.
