Agricultural Development & Food Security Project

Basse’s economy heavily relies on agriculture, yet farmers face challenges such as low yields, poor irrigation, and limited access to markets. The Agricultural Development & Food Security Project aims to empower local farmers by introducing modern farming techniques, providing access to better irrigation systems, and improving market linkages.

This project will establish agricultural cooperatives where farmers can pool resources and access training on sustainable farming techniques. BAC will also support the development of irrigation schemes, including solar-powered water pumps, to ensure year-round farming. Additionally, local markets will be expanded to provide farmers with better opportunities to sell their produce. The initiative will also promote agro-processing industries to create value-added products such as dried fruits and packaged grains.

Expected Impact:

  • Increased Agricultural Productivity: Improved irrigation and modern farming methods will boost yields.
  • Economic Empowerment: Farmers will have better access to markets and financial support.
  • Food Security: A steady supply of locally grown food will reduce dependence on imports.
